The first meeting of the Aggieland Beard & Moustache Club, Thursday, December 6, 2012

In May 2010, I saw a story on CNN about the World Beard & Moustache Championships. I had read somewhere that a beard is like a fingerprint--there are no two alike--so I got curious what my beard would look like if I just let it grow.

I had worn a beard of varying lengths since 2002 when I no longer had to shave for a job, but my newfound curiosity helped me discover a whole culture of "bearding."I entered myself in the 2011 Beard Nation "Best Beard" contest, and with the help of the Aggie network won that contest. I started wishing for a local bearding community and dreaming about how I might help in that cause.

This year, that dream has become a reality and I'm looking forward to the beard contests, beard runs, parades, hangouts (with board games!) that we have in store!

Thanks, and Gig 'Em!

P.S. I'd love to get stories from other ABMC members about how they got interested in bearding, too. Let me know if you want to write and post your story!
